Well it was to be expected, first we had Pharmacogenetics, now Nutrigenomics and soon to be “omics” for the beauty industry. The latest news is that Procter & Gamble have unveiled their plans in using “omics” to understand and unravel the molecular puzzle to beautiful skin and hair.
Already Dermagenetic panels are available in medi-spa´s around the globe to check SNP´s for antioxidant status, collagen breakdown, inflammation and detoxification. Personalised skin care products are available at a hefty price although I question the science behind them. My view on the “Beauty from within” is a much more positive, meaning that your skin is essentially what you eat.
